  charities

There are many ways that you can help charities, and support other worthwhile causes, in particular humanitarian (especially children/basic needs) and global issues.

Some Particular Interests Which I Have (alphabetical order!)
Barnardos Barnardo's works with the most vulnerable children and young people, helping them transform their lives and fulfil their potential, supporting 120,000 children and their families through 370 services in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We believe that the lives of all children should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. We use our expertise and knowledge to campaign for better care for children and to champion the rights of every child.
Brazil I spent five months in Brazil, working in a family home, and working amongst street children - see the photos.
Charity Technology Trust (CTT) The CTT is a registered UK charity formed to increase the efficiency of other charities by using new technology and the internet. Their aim is to improve charities' efficiency and donor relationships through provision of technology tools and specialist ICT know-how to charities.
Childline ChildLine is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Christian Aid "We believe in life before death". Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland, working wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race.
Click'a'Day Sites

Visit each of these sites daily, and click on the button to fund items needed by those less fortunate, donated by the site sponsors.

Breast Cancer Site The nonprofit National Breast Cancer Foundation uses the funds generated to grant access to mammographies to women in need
Child Health Site

Th is site focuses upon a specific need - saving children's lives and improving the quality of their health. Over 200,000 children die every week from preventable causes, and many millions more suffer from preventable disease, cureable blindness, landmines and other crippling accidents.

The charity partners for this site are: Mercy Corps; Prosthetics Outreach Foundation; Helen Keller International; Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Hunger Site

There is enough food in the world for every man, woman and child. Yet an estimated one billion of the world's people live in poverty and face chronic hunger. 24,000 die daily. 75% of them are children under age five.

Each click donates over a cup of fortified food. Food is distributed by two leading nonprofit hunger relief organizations: Mercy Corps and America's Second Harvest.

A "click to give" costs nothing but a few seconds of your time, and gives help and hope to a person in desperate need.

Medair Medair is a non-governmental organisation independent of any political, economic, social or religious authority. Its mission is exclusively humanitarian and it accomplishes its work in a spirit of dedication and solidarity, inspired by its Christian values. It does not proselytise.

Medair's objectives are to respond to suffering victims in war and disaster situations (especially those which have been forgotten or neglected) through various kinds of emergency and rehabilitative projects.

NSPCC The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. They have been directly involved in protecting children and campaigning on their behalf since 1884.
